Shiloh Turner is an expert on philanthropy. Vivian Chen is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. This spring, the two collaborated on an inspiring philanthropy project for students at Gymnázium Roudnice nad Labem. During the current spring semester, Shiloh teaches about the role of philanthropy in the nonprofit sector at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University in Brno. In the United States, she serves as the Principal of Executive Philanthropy Advisors in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vivian helps students at Gymnázium Roudnice nad Labem improve their spoken English and learn more about life in the United States. When Shiloh offered to organize a philanthropy workshop at one of the ETA host schools, Vivian eagerly volunteered her school to participate. Veronika Pikola Brázdilová works as a manager of international projects in the Václav Havel Library. She studied communications at Sciences Po Paris (Institut d'études politiques)graduating with an internship at the European Commission in Brussels. She was a project manager for the Belgian communication agency managing European Union websites. After returning from abroad, she worked for a year at the Representation of the European Commission in Prague. Since 2013, she has been working in the Václav Havel Library. In the Spring of 2024, she, her husband, and their two sons left for the USA as a scholarship recipient of the Fulbright-Masaryk program for the non-profit sector. For four months, she worked at the Bill Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. Osamu Okamura je architekt, vysokoškolský učitel a interpret městského plánování a urbanismu. Vystudoval Fakultu architektury Českého vysokého učení technického a Intermediální tvorbu na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze. Během studií vyjel na zahraniční pobyt na Ecole d’Architecture de Nantes ve Francii. Od počátku své kariéry aktivně hovoří o architektuře v médiích. Pravidelně přispíval do Českého rozhlasu a Hospodářských novin, spolupracoval s Českou televizí. Byl členem redakční rady časopisu Fórum architektury a stavitelství , šéfredaktorem architektonického časopisu ERA21 , programovým ředitelem mezinárodní urbanistické konference reSITE a kurátorem výstupu evropského projektu Shared Cities: Creative Momentum . Od února 2019 do ledna 2023 byl děkanem Fakulty umění a architektury Technické univerzity v Liberci. V září 2023 byl hostujícím profesorem na japonské Tokijské vědecké univerzitě. Karolína Kripnerová je architektka. Její specializací je sociálně udržitelná architektura. V roce 2017 spoluzaložila spolek Architekti bez hranic, kde s týmem kolegů a kolegyň z oblasti architektury a designu usiluje o zlepšení kvality veřejného prostoru. Karolíny hlavním tématem je bezdomovectví - dlouhodobě se zabývá otázkou, jak mohou architekti přispět k řešení tohoto celospolečenského problému. Na jaře 2023 vyjela na Fulbright-Masarykovo stipendium pro osoby aktivní v neziskovém sektoru. Propojila se s americkou organizací Community Solutions, která si konec bezdomovectví vytyčila jako svůj stěžejní cíl, a po boku amerických kolegů tři měsíce zkoumala fenomén bezdomovectví v ikonickém New Yorku. Aby byla její americká zkušenost pestřejší a intenzivnější, rozhodla se naplno využít tzv. grace period, což je dvouměsíční lhůta, kterou stipendisté automaticky dostávají ke svému vízu navíc, aby měli dostatek času přestěhovat se z domovské země do USA a potom zase zpět. Salvatore Alaimo is a Professor of Nonprofit Administration and Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. In this academic year, Salvatore examines the theory and practice of non-profit management at the Faculty of Social Studies at University of Ostrava. Located in the north-east of the Czech Republic, Ostrava is the third largest city of the country. It used to be nicknamed the "steel heart" of Czechoslovakia because of its coal mining and metallurgical past. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the region has been shaken by a major industrial restructuring strategy that has included the closure of the last mine in 1994. The new approach and greater attention to environmental impacts resulted in better air quality, but also in significant social and socioeconomic challenges for the local population that did traditionally rely on jobs related to heavy industry.
